Teacher / Parents Conference

Gerald Jay is awarded as a student of the Month!!! Yay!

I had a conference with GJ's teacher. I actually seen his improvement since the past year, and we are all glad that he is learning. The teacher Ms. S said that Gerald has changed a lot since the last first time in kindergarten. He is still be delayed in many areas of his growth and development, but at least he is moving in the right direction. At school, he is the life of the party even though he is not talking. Ms. S said that he always makes her happy because Gerald would mumble words and followed by laugh. He does it to me too and Ms. S and I have the same answer which is " what did you say? I wish I could understand what you just said". Sometimes I look at my son and always feel that I neglected being his first teacher, but I am so glad to see him running around and healthy as he could be. He may be very delay in language and speech but he is so smart. I am hoping that one day he will just tell me in full sentence " don;t worry mom, I will be alright".
And he was awarded as a student of the month! Yehey!  I am really proud of him.

So far he learned:
  - to write his full name without tracing it ( but he have a very sloppy hand writing. We will work on that extensively)
   - he is counting clearly from 0-10, but from 11 and so on it wasn't clear at all ( I know most children starts counting when they were at 2 1/2 to 3 years old)
    - his attention span increase from 1 minute to 5 to 10 minutes. If he like the particular activity, he could stay in that activity for half hour or more though.
     - he finished 100 books challenged before Christmas ( we actually read it to him and he stayed most of the time.
    - he loves his new gadget and learn more from it (leap pad).

Over all the meeting went well and  Gerald got a positive feedback from his teacher. I also like the nurse at his school because she is so involved in GJ health and academic goal.

Thanks to Ms. S and Nurse M.
and
Praise be to God!
